One of the oldest villas is built in 1870 by the Tyszkiewicz family. In 1897, Count Tyszkiewicz built magnificent palaces near the Baltic Sea, now housing a museum. The building's project was designed by Franz Heinrich Schwechten (1841–1924), a German architect living in Berlin. The park was designed by French landscape architect Edouard François André (1840–1911). The palace is located in the sacred Palanga Birutė Forest, home to a beautiful botanical park.
